We continue our journey with Chudleys Ambassador Howard Kirby, with part 3 of his preparations for the World Championships in France in just a couple of weeks. Here is what Howard has been getting up to:
'Time just slips away, as you all know there’s always more you want to do to prepare your dog for a competition. We leave for The World Championships on the 19th October. So much to do!
We’ve been to Honeycombe in Dorset again this week and there was some real development in the dogs. Rory and Tashi are flying and both worked the Partridges well.
We took two young dogs with us Enzo a young GSP and Troy my next GLP Superstar. Both of these dogs are learning the job so quickly. All the training you do at home on dummies is essential but once the dog is ready for Live Game the rate at which they learn just accelerates. The trick of course is that they learn all of the right things.'
Check back soon for part 4 of Howard's journey to France, where he discusses the techniques he has been using at home and also some nutritional advice.
