Open to all gundog breeds, the scurries will be hosted at 9 country shows and game fairs across the UK and will test the retrieving ability of gundogs against the clock over various disciplines.
Each day the fastest dog will be awarded with 1st place position and 30 points, 2nd place will receive 20 points and 3rd place will be awarded with 10 points. The top 20 dogs in the league after the final qualifying scurry will be invited to attend the grand final at the Midland Game Fair to determine the overall winner.
The 2017 BASC Chudleys Scurry League will take place at the West of England Game Fair, Northern Shooting Show, Welsh Spring Fair, Cotswold Show, Rhug Country Fair, Holkham Country Fair, The Game Fair, Fenland Game Fair and the Frampton Country Show, with the grand final taking place at the Midland Game Fair in September.
Competitors will pay £2 per run for each scurry and junior competitors, aged 16 and under, will be entitled to 1 free scurry ticket per individual scurry at each event and additional tickets will be priced at £1 each.
BASC Game and Gamekeeping Officer Alex Farrell commented: “This is a friendly and inclusive competition open to all gundog owners. Now entering its 7th year, this year’s BASC Chudleys Scurry League will be off to a flying start at the West of England Game Fair. The event has grown every year, with more than 1,600 entrants in 2016. We hope to see even more handlers and dogs at the events this year. We encourage people to come along with their gundogs to enter on the day and have a go.”
