A CHAMPION IS CROWNED AT THE BASC CHUDLEYS SCURRY LEAGUE FINAL

Handlers and their talented dogs arrive at the Midland Game Fair

After 10 incredible rounds of scurry action that took place at some of the finest countryside events in the UK, the top 20 dogs from the league table were invited to the Midland Game Fair at Weston Park, Shropshire on the 15th September to compete in the final competition to crown the overall champion.

There were 5 individual scurries that took place across the league events including, long retrieve, partridge pen and multiple blind that took place to test dogs and their handlers skills, stamina and retrieving abilities. 

The champion is crowned

It was an emotionally challenging day as skilled handlers and their four-legged friends gave there all in a bid to win the BASC Chudleys Scurry League championship. With an amazing score of 88/100, Tony Bryant and his Labrador Skye finished the day with the highest score and took home the title of 2018 Scurry League Champion. This was the first year that Tony and Skye took part in the event. They got involved in the competition after competing in their first event at the Northern Shooting Show earlier this year. 

Tony and Skye received the BASC Chudleys Scurry League trophy, one years supply of Chudleys dog food, a commissioned portrait of Skye by Jessica Lennox, £300 Sporting Saint voucher and a beautifully carved Ramshorn walking stick.

Congratulations to the winners… 

Nick Wilkinson with Kiwi finished in 2nd place with 83/100 points. The duo won 6 months supply of Chudleys dog food, £200 Sporting Saint voucher, Ramshorn stick and a glass trophy. Steve Townsend with Dee scored 73/100 points to finish in 3rd place. They received 4 months of Chudleys dog food, £100 Sporting Saint voucher, a Ramshorn stick and a glass trophy. 4th place went to Lucinda Southern with Macy on 63/100 points. They won 3 months of Chudleys dog food, £50 voucher for Sporting Saint, a Ramshorn Stick and an engraved glass trophy. Alan Davies with Bertie took 5th place with 58/100 points and won 2 months of Chudleys dog food, £30 Sporting Saint vouchers, a Ramshorn stick and an engraved glass trophy. 

All the finalists who took part in the event also received a Sologne coat and trousers set with a pair of Wellington boots from Percussion Clothing. 

The final competition of the 2018 BASC Scurry League has come to a close. There have been some amazing displays of skills and stamina throughout the year.
